It is a salve that safely battles existing diaper rash and protects against flare ups. Because of the healing properties of many of the herbs used, like Calendula officinalis, it has healing powers you can use also for other things like cradle cap, bug bites, scrapes, minor rashes, burns, etc. I also use it!

Calendula-Comfrey-Tea Tree Oil Diaper Rash Ointment

If you take the time to make a batch of diaper rash ointment, you will have enough to last you for a couple of months.

It will be fun and you will also save money. Many of the ingredients you need, can be found at your local health food store or you can order them online.

If you do not have one ingredient, do not worry you can still make your diaper rash ointment with what you have.

Ingredients:

1 pound of organic coconut oil or shea butter

2 tablespoons of calendula petals

2 tablespoons of Comfrey leaves

2 tablespoons of Chamomile flowers

Steps of Preparation

Put the herbs in glass bowl and add 1 cup of boiling water.

Cover the herbs with a lid and let them steep for 20-30 minutes.

Melt the coconut oil in a stainless steel pan.

Stir gently and then add 30 drops of tea tree oil.

Add the herbs.

Filter the ointment into jars and apply to skin as needed.

Make sure to put a label on your jars so you know when you prepared them and what they contain. They should last for a couple of months if kept in a cool dry place away from sun light.

Emu Oil-Tea Tree Oil Diaper Rash Ointment

This is another way of making a good diaper rash ointment. This uses beeswax which gives more of a protective barrier and sticks to your baby's bum. Many of the ingredients are available at you local health food store or online. Make sure to purchase a good quality of ingredients for best results.

Ingredients:

1 pound of Beeswax

½ cup of Oil of Olive

¼ cup of Grape Seed Oil

¼ cup of Emu Oil

20 drops of Tea Tree Oil

20 drops of Lavender Essential Oil

2 tablespoons of Vitamin E

Steps of Preparation

Put the beeswax in a clean glass bowl.

Put the bowl over a saucepan containing simmering water.

Simmer it until the wax is completely melted.

Add the oil of olive, the grape seed oil, the emu oil and the Vitamin E.

Stir with a wooden spoon until mixture cools and starts to become hard, then add 20 drops of tea tree oil and 20 drops of lavender essential oil.

Using a smaller spoon fill out all the glass ointment jars.

Let cool and seal tightly.

Store it in a cool and dry place.

Make sure to put a label on your jars so you know when you prepared them and what they contain. They should last for a couple of months if kept in a cool dry place away from sun light.

Apply this diaper rash ointment and healing salve at every diaper change to prevent diaper rash.
